The Lady Arcs had a strong opening day at the Division II District Track Championships, with two district champions leading the way and several athletes punching their tickets to next week's regional meet.
Brielle Ray successfully defended her district title in the shot put, winning the event with a throw of 37' 5.5" to advance to regionals. Destiny Johnson also claimed a district championship, clearing 5' 2" to win the high jump and earn a spot at regionals.
Johnson added another strong performance on the track, advancing to Friday's finals in the 100-meter hurdles along with teammate Michaela Bates. In the distance events, Hailey Flowers posted the top preliminary time in the 800-meter run at 2:25.79 and will look to carry that momentum into Friday's finals. The Lady Arcs also qualified for the finals in both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.
On the boys side, Ethan Enoch earned a regional berth with a fourth-place finish in the discus, recording a throw of 146' 6", while Maurice Johnson placed third in the long jump with a leap of 22' 5" to advance to regionals.
The Arcs will also be well represented in Friday's running finals, with Marshon Jolly advancing in the 400 meters, Josiah Anthory qualifying in the 300-meter hurdles, and the boys 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400-meter relay teams all moving on to finals.
Day two of the District Championships resumes Friday with field events beginning at 4 p.m. and running finals set for 5:30 p.m.
