The 94th Mansfield Mehock Relays on Saturday provided a strong early-season test for Brush Track & Field, with the girls turning in a competitive performance to place sixth out of 16 teams, while the boys finished 10th out of 17 teams.
Leading the way for the girls was Brielle Ray, who delivered a standout performance in the field by winning the shot put with a throw of 37'6. On the track, Destiny Johnson continued her impressive season, finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27.
Brush's relay teams were a major strength on the day. The 4x200-meter relay team raced to a second-place finish in 1:45.78, while the 4x800-meter relay also earned runner-up honors with a time of 10:38.52. The 4x100-meter relay added a fourth-place finish in 52.58.
Individually, Paige Walker placed fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.78), while Hailey Flowers took fifth in the 800-meter run (2:31.90). Kasey Flowers added a fifth-place finish in the 1600-meter run (5:42.53), and Kennedie Worsham finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (52.10), rounding out a balanced effort for the Lady Arcs.
On the boys side, Maurice Johnson highlighted the day with a first-place finish in the long jump, soaring 21'11.5 to claim the title. David Tyus also contributed with a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (24.06).
