Despite seeing Eastlake North cut into their six-run lead late in the game, the Arcs held on for a 7-5 victory on Monday, improving their record to 2-5.
Brush got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after
Isaac Sypniewski singled to center field, and
Owen Thompson grounded out, each scoring one run. The Arcs then added two runs in the second when
Kyle Farrell singled to center field, making the score 4-0.
Thompson earned the win for Brush surrendering six hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Sypniewski collected the save for the Arcs. Gavin Rieder took the loss for North.
Farrell went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Farrell and Sypniewski each collected two hits for Brush.
Tyler Leasure provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led North with two runs batted in, going 2-for-3 on the day.
