Kyle Farrell had a standout day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three singles to help lift the Brush Arcs to a 7-3 victory over the Wickliffe Blue Devils on Monday.
Farrell's hits came in the first, third, and fourth innings, sparking a Brush offense that capitalized on key opportunities. The Arcs opened the scoring in the first inning when
Dominick Taylor grounded into a fielder's choice that still managed to bring a run home.
The pivotal moment came in the fourth, when Brush exploded for five runs on just two hits.
Jelani Carr got the rally started with an RBI double. Farrell followed with a two-run single, an error allowed another run to score, and
Jayden Amey drew a bases-loaded walk to cap off the big inning.
On the mound,
Isaac Sypniewski earned the win with a strong outing, tossing six innings while allowing five hits and three runs. He struck out eight and walked just one.
Owen Thompson closed the game with a dominant inning of relief, striking out two in a hitless frame. Carr also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4, while Taylor swiped two of the team's five stolen bases.
For Wickliffe, Logan Ruscin was a bright spot, finishing 2-for-2 with two RBIs. The Blue Devils also turned two double plays defensively, but couldn't overcome the fourth-inning surge.
The Arcs (now 5-9) will look to stay hot when they host Painesville Riverside today on a day they'll honor their senior ballplayers, weather permitting ! First pitch is scheduled for 5:00pm at Humpal Field / Greenview, with senior festivities set for 4:15pm.
