Brush Tops Archbishop Hoban 51-46 in Regional Championship, Extends Winning Streak to 22

The Brush Lady Arcs are on an absolute tear this postseason, and their latest victory against the Archbishop Hoban Knights in the regional championship was no exception. With a 51-46 win on Saturday at The Canton Memorial Fieldhouse, Brush extended their remarkable winning streak to 22 games, improving their record to 24-2 and advancing to the Division 3 Final Four. The Arcs have been firing on all cylinders, especially on the road / neutral sites, where they've now won nine consecutive games.

Brush's offensive firepower continues to shine, averaging 60.2 points per game during their recent stretch of wins. In this playoff clash, it was the effort of sophomore star Tatiana Mason that put the Arcs over the top. Mason scored 23 points, including two clutch free throws in the closing seconds to help seal the victory. Her younger sister, Nyla Mason, added 11 points, while sophomore guard Chaniyra McDowell-Isaacs contributed eight points, including crucial free throws and a layup that gave Brush a three-point lead in the final minutes.

The game was a roller coaster, with Brush battling back from an early deficit. Hoban led 15-6 midway through the first quarter after a layup by Niera Stevens, but Brush fought back hard. The Lady Arcs took control in the second quarter, holding Hoban scoreless in the period while they scored eight points to take a 25-20 lead into halftime. Through the third quarter, Brush's dynamic duo, the Mason sisters, continued to pressure Hoban, and the Arcs extended their lead to 38-29 heading into the final frame.

Hoban, who had been riding high with a 13-game home winning streak (this was a neutral site but far closer to Hoban's campus than Brush's) dating back to last season, struggled to find their rhythm as the game wore on. Zoey Hodge led the Knights with 15 points, while Amariya Davis chipped in nine and Finley Kennedy added eight, but it wasn't enough to overcome the strong play from Brush.
In the final minutes, McDowell-Isaacs made key free throws and a layup to keep the Arcs in control. Despite a valiant effort, the Knight's bid for a comeback fell short.  With the loss, Hoban dropped to 23-3 on the season.

For Brush, this win is just another step in their relentless march toward a championship. The Arcs' ability to close out tight games on the road and their stifling defense have made them one of the most formidable teams in the playoffs. As they head into the next round, Brush will look to continue their dominant run and keep their remarkable streak alive.
