Despite Owen Thompson striking out 10 batters on the day, Brush still fell to Lake Catholic on Friday, 4-3 in the Arcs season opener. Thompson gave up six hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings while walking three.
Lake Catholic opened the scoring in the second inning after Caden Boyes singled, scoring one run.
Brush took the lead in the top of the third when Kyle Farrell singled, scoring two runs, to give the Arcs the lead, 2-1.
Lake Catholic took the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to singles by #20, and Gilbert.
#7 earned the win for Lake Catholic. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking none. Radigan stepped on the bump first for Lake Catholic. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Farrell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Brush with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Jelani Carr stole two bases.
Gilbert led Lake Catholic with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Nytrae, Boyes, Mann, Locker, Gilbert, and #20 each collected one hit for Lake Catholic.
