Baskin and Sims Earn All-State Wrestling Honors

Brush wrestlers Josiah Sims and Brooklyn Baskin competed this past weekend in the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament.  Both came away having earned All-Ohio honors by securing their spots on the podiums for their perspective weight classes.

Baskin, a district champion, competed in one of the toughest weight classes for the girls division at 155 pounds. She won her first two matches which placed her in the semifinals of the championship round. There she lost to the reigning 155 pound state champion. However, she did battle back to finish sixth in the state securing All Ohio status by finishing in the top eight of the state with a career record of 149-32. She is currently the highest placing girl in school history. She has been accepted to Texas Women's University at this current time.


Josiah Sims competed on the boys side and secured a fifth place finish by defeating opponents from Wadsworth and then Saint Edwards. Josiah showed no fear as stepped on the mat each and every time competing at his highest level to cement himself in Brush wrestling history. He is looking forward to chasing that STATE CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT SEASON!!
