The Brush girls volleyball team suffered a close loss in its season opener, falling to Medina Christian Academy in a tense five-set battle, culminating in a 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 13-15) win for the Knights.
The competition kicked off intensely with Medina Christian narrowly taking the first set 25-23. Momentum stayed with the Knights as they clinched the second set 25-19. However, the Lady Arcs responded robustly, claiming the third set 25-21 and continuing their comeback by winning the fourth set 25-18. The decisive fifth set was a nail-biter, ending with Medina Christian edging out a victory 15-13.
Key players for Brush emerged throughout the match.
Karma Warner led with eight kills, followed by
Mya Porter and
Emani Dalton, who each contributed five kills. Defensively, Porter was remarkable with 14 digs, supported by
Shilah Sample with 11. Sample also dominated in serving, securing eight aces, while
Prajita Tamang and Porter added three aces each to the team's tally.
Brush returns to the court on Thursday when Euclid visits Welser Gym.
