In a gripping volleyball face-off, Brush High School's Lady Arcs narrowly fell to the Lakeside Dragons with a final score of 3-2 in the clash held at Brush Wednesday night. Despite a rocky start, the Lady Arcs showed commendable resilience, pushing the fixture to a deciding fifth set.
The match opened with Lakeside securing the first set 25-19. Brush fought fiercely through an intense second set, which they narrowly lost 29-27, demonstrating a robust defensive effort and a resurgence in offensive tactics. The Lady Arcs continued their momentum into the third and fourth sets, winning both at 25-23, overturning the match dynamics full circle against the sturdy Lakeside team.
During the crucial fifth set, though, Lakeside managed to regain control, culminating the match with a 15-8 set win. Brush High's performance was highlighted by significant contributions from multiple players.
Karma Warner and
Mya Porter led the team with seven kills each, while Warner also stood out on defense with four blocks. The defense saw additional robust plays from Alaina Appline and
Mya Porter. The team's agility and reflexes were showcased with
Prajita Tamang achieving 14 digs, followed closely by
Shilah Sample and
Mya Porter with 10 each.
Assists were keenly distributed, predominantly by Destiny Johnson who topped the charts with 13 assists. Despite the loss, the Lady Arcs have balanced their season record to 3-3.
Looking ahead, Brush is set to continue their season at Bedford on Saturday.
