The Brush boys wrestling team placed sixth overall at the Austintown Fitch sectional tournament, with four Arcs punching their tickets to next week's district tournament.
Senior
Jonathan Sims continued his dominance in the 190-pound weight class, making easy work of the field and capping the day with a 12-3 major decision in the Edwin Rios of Brecksville in the championship match. With the win, Sims improved his season record to 39-1, giving him an astonishing .975 winning percentage.
Sims' younger brother Josiah looked to match his brother's first place finish, however the freshman was bested in the 126-pound first place match by fall. Despite the loss, Josiah will head into districts with an overall mark of 32-6.
After dropping his second-round match to Steele's Trae Thompson,
Charlie Dancy rebounded to capture third place at 106. Facing off against Thompson once again, Dancy came out on top, via a fall at 2:34.
Heavyweight Michal Gill rounded out the list of district qualifiers for the Arcs, advancing to the third-place match before unfortunately having to retire due to injury.
The district tournament begins this Friday, February 28 at 5pm at North Canton Hoover with the top four wrestlers in each weight class, advancing to the state tournament.
