Baskin and Johnson Win Titles at Fording Invitational

On Sunday, Lady Arcs wrestling delivered a determined and high-energy performance on their home mats, surging into third-place finish as a team (125 points) trailing only Sandusky and Vermillion. The day was highlighted by milestone wins, gritty performances, and major contributions across the roster.
 
Tournament Highlights
• Brooklyn Baskin (Senior) – 1st Place, 170 lbs — 100th Career Win
Baskin dominated a loaded 16-wrestler bracket, claiming the title at 170 lbs and securing her 100th career victory. She capped her standout day going 4-0 and with four pins, defeating all she wrestled in decisive fashion.
 
• Amari Johnson (Sophomore) – 1st Place, 190 lbs (5–0)
Johnson made a selfless move up to 190 lbs to help her teammates compete at their natural weights — and then dominated the bracket. She finished the day 5–0, pushing her career mark to 61–6 and her season start to 5–0. The returning state placer and #2-ranked wrestler at 170 lbs proved she can excel anywhere in the lineup.
 
• Precious Werman (Junior) – 3rd Place, 135 lbs (3–1)
Werman fought through a tough bracket of seeded competitors to finish 3rd, delivering key placement-round points that boosted Brush into the top three.
 
• Leah James (Junior) – 4th Place (3–2)
James wrestled with confidence and grit, advancing deep into the placement rounds and pushing the team total upward with each hard-earned win.
 
• Juliana Loving (Freshman) – 5th Place (4–1)
Loving turned heads in her first year on the mat, going 4–1 and showcasing poise, toughness, and steady improvement. Her points proved pivotal, helping the Lady Arcs jump from 8th early in the day to a final 3rd-place finish.
