Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high scoring performance is even better—just ask the Westlake Demons. Their defense and relentless attack combined to hand the Brush Arcs an 8–0 shutout loss on Saturday in the Sectional Final.
The result marked Westlake's seventh victory of the season by three or more goals, underscoring just how dominant the 10–3–4 Demons have been in 2025. They wasted little time asserting control, netting six goals in the first half and adding two more after the break to seal the commanding win.
For Brush, the defeat ended what had been a strong late-season push. The Arcs entered the match riding a three-game winning streak and playing with confidence, but they simply couldn't keep pace with a Westlake squad ranked 47th in the state by MaxPreps (compared to Brush's No. 405).
Brush's effort and resolve throughout the year remained a point of pride. The Arcs overcame early adversity, including an offseason car accident that sidelined four players—each of whom fought back to contribute meaningfully as the campaign progressed.
Brush closes its season with a final record of 6–7–6, a mark that reflects both resilience and growth for a group that refused to quit. Westlake, meanwhile, advances to the District Semifinal, where they'll face the Cloverleaf Colts on October 23 at 7:00 p.m.
Though the season ends for the Arcs, their grit, teamwork, and perseverance will long be remembered by the Brush faithful.
