Brush Baseball Rallies but Comes Up Just Short

Despite a 6-run deficit in the fourth inning, Brush almost came all the way back, eventually falling 11-10 to Fairport Harding Skippers on Monday. The Arcs closed the gap by scoring on a single, a walk, a hit by pitch, a pop out, a walk, and a ground out.

Brush collected nine hits and Fairport Harding Skippers had 10 in the high-scoring affair.

The Arcs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Geofferson Betts singled down the right field line, and Jayden Amey walked, each scoring one run.

The Skippers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Peyton Kallay that drove in two.

Fairport Harding added one run in the third. Wyatt Slavkovsky grounded out, making the score 6-3.

Brush flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 10-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a wild pitch that drove in two.

The Skippers scored on a wild pitch, which helped Fairport Harding Skippers tie the game at 10 in the bottom of the sixth.

James Gardner pitched three innings in relief for the Arcs. The left-handed pitcher gave up six hits and four runs while, striking out none and walking one. Deshawn Dammons led things off on the mound for Brush. The pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs (four earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking four. Kohen Galm led things off on the bump for Fairport Harding Skippers. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking four.

Brush accumulated nine hits in the game. Gardner led the Arcs with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-5 on the day. Betts and Braylon Davis each collected three hits for the Arcs. Amey paced Brush with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game.

The Skippers amassed 10 hits in the game. Galm, Elijah Harless, Kallay, and Chase McCloud each collected two hits for Fairport Harding. Kallay went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Galm paced the Skippers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. 

Brush will travel to Chardon for their next game on Thursday.
