The Brush Arcs tennis squad ran into a sharp and disciplined Chardon squad on Tuesday afternoon, falling 5-0 on the road as the Hilltoppers controlled play across the courts.
In singles action, Chardon set the tone early with straight-set victories at all three positions. At No. 1,
Gus Zaucha battled but fell 6-1, 6-2.
Madan Rai faced a tough matchup at No. 2, dropping a 6-0, 6-1 decision, while
Khaliq Muhammad rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 3.
Doubles play followed a similar script, with Chardon maintaining momentum. The No. 1 team of
Ashley Amer and
Ashton Amer competed well but came up short, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 2, Emily Ricciuti and
Reagan Shelby were unable to break through in a 6-0, 6-1 loss.
Despite the final scoreline, Brush showed flashes of competitiveness, particularly in doubles, and will look to build on those moments moving forward.
The Arcs return to action on Thursday @ Gilmour Academy, aiming to regroup and sharpen their play against accomplished opposition.
