The Brush Lady Arcs walked into Saturday afternoon riding a three-game winning streak — and walked out with four. Brush delivered a commanding 68-20 victory over the Akron North Vikings at Welser Gym, marking the Lady Arcs' eighth win this season by 22 points or more. From the opening tip, Brush controlled tempo, dictated defensively, and never allowed North to gain a foothold.
What made the performance even more impressive was who wasn't on the floor. The Lady Arcs were without Ohio State-commit
Tatiana Mason (ankle) and senior Juliana Ferreira (ankle/foot), yet the depth and balance of the roster shined through.
Sophomore guard
Nylah Mason set the tone offensively, pouring in 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting (59%), including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. She added six rebounds, three assists, and a steal, extending her streak to four consecutive games with at least 17 points.
Inside, senior
Jakalyn Brown dominated the glass, registering a powerful double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds — nine of them offensive — while adding three steals. Brown's presence fueled Brush's overwhelming 56-24 rebounding advantage and led to 19 second-chance points.
Addi Harris chipped in 12 points, knocking down a pair of triples, while the extended rotation made meaningful contributions.
Kyra Phinnessee,
Isys Cooke,
Taya Pempton, and
Rikea Matthews combined for 10 points as they logged increased minutes due to injuries. Phinnessee added seven rebounds and four assists, underscoring how vital the bench will be as postseason play approaches.
Statistically, Brush's dominance was comprehensive:
40.3% field goal shooting to North's 15.4%
30 points off turnovers (compared to just 1 allowed)
21 transition points to zero
36 points in the paint to zero
16 steals and 12 deflections
Brush forced 24 Viking turnovers and converted them into easy offense, overwhelming North with relentless ball pressure and rebounding.
For Akron North, senior Ce'Airah Underwood accounted for 15 of the team's 20 points but needed 25 shot attempts, connecting on just four field goals under heavy defensive attention. Serenity Noel added the Vikings' only other scoring with five points.
The win pushes Brush to 18-5 overall, while North's season ends at 3-20, including ten straight road losses.
Next up, the Lady Arcs return to action Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., WELSER GYMNASIUM, against the Willoughby South Rebels (58-34 winners over Cleveland JFK on Saturday). With key contributors sidelined, Saturday's performance demonstrated that Brush's depth, defensive intensity, and rebounding prowess remain more than enough to keep their momentum rolling.
