Game Stats
In a game where every yard was hard-earned and every possession mattered, the Brush Arcs found just enough offense to weather the storm and secure a gritty 3-0 victory over the Lutheran East Falcons on Friday night at historic Korb Field.
Â
Battling the wind, cold temperatures, and driving rain of a challenging mid-October Northeast Ohio weather front, both teams endured a defensive struggle that featured more determination than offensive fireworks. The conditions undoubtedly played a major role in the contest, making ball security, field position, and execution especially difficult throughout four hard-fought quarters.
Â
After three scoreless periods, Brush finally broke through in the fourth quarter when Arcs placekicker
Prajit Tamang connected on a 30-yard field goal, delivering the game's only points and ultimately the difference in a hard-earned victory.
Â
The win improved Brush to 6-3 overall and marked the Arcs' fourth consecutive home victory at Korb Field.
Â
Moore Powers the Arcs' Ground Attack
With the passing game severely limited by the elements, Brush leaned heavily on its running game, and sophomore standout
Lawrence Moore delivered an impressive performance. The Arcs' workhorse carried the football 31 times for 166 yards, averaging more than five yards per carry and providing the offensive foundation for a team determined to grind out a victory.
Â
Moore ripped off a game-long run of 44 yards and consistently shouldered the workload as Brush attempted to establish control at the line of scrimmage. His production accounted for the vast majority of the Arcs' offensive yardage.
Â
Quarterback
Isaiah McClain completed one of five passes for seven yards, connecting with receiver
Mike Dennis for Brush's lone completion of the evening. The Arcs finished with just 157 total yards, including 150 on the ground, as the weather made sustained offensive drives a challenge.
Â
Nevertheless, Brush did enough to maintain its composure, protect the football when it mattered most, and capitalize on the opportunity that ultimately decided the game.
Â
Falcons Battle, but Brush Defense Holds Firm
Â
Lutheran East also struggled to generate offense in the miserable conditions, finishing with 134 total yards, including 120Â rushing yards and just 14 passing yards.
Â
Falcons running back Marcus Robinson led the way with 57 yards on 20 carries, while quarterback Lawrence Davis-Dillard added 41 yards on 11 rushing attempts. Davis-Dillard completed just one of nine passes, with his 14-yard completion to Elijah Armstead-Jackson representing the Falcons' lone connection through the air.
Â
Despite collecting 11 first downs compared with Brush's eight, Lutheran East could not translate its opportunities into points. The Falcons were hampered by three turnovers, including two interceptions, while Brush committed one turnover.
Â
The Arcs also benefited from a disciplined defensive effort and a strong showing in the penalty department. Brush was flagged just three times for 15 yards, compared with six penalties for 37 yards against Lutheran East.
Â
In a game defined by field position and limited scoring opportunities, those details mattered.
Â
Tamang's Kick Makes the Difference
Â
For three quarters, neither team could find the end zone or put points on the scoreboard. The defenses continued to battle through the elements, and every offensive possession carried added importance.
Â
Then came the decisive moment in the fourth quarter.
Â
Tamang stepped forward and calmly delivered the 30-yard field goal that broke the scoreless deadlock. His kick proved to be the difference between victory and defeat in a contest where touchdowns were elusive and even modest offensive gains were difficult to achieve.
Â
The Arcs' defense took care of the rest, preserving the slim advantage and sending Brush supporters home with a hard-fought victory on a night when simply navigating the conditions was an accomplishment.
Â
A Gritty Victory as the Regular Season Winds Down
Â
Friday's 3-0 final score may not have produced a scoreboard full of highlights, but it reflected the kind of toughness and perseverance that football often demands when the weather turns nasty.
Â
Brush finished with 42 offensive plays to Lutheran East's 46, and the two teams combined for only 254 total yards. The Arcs' ability to generate 170 rushing yards from Moore, limit the Falcons to 125 total yards, and make the game's lone scoring opportunity count proved decisive.
Â
It was not a night for offensive records or highlight-reel passing plays. It was a night for defense, determination, special teams, and finding a way to win.
Â
For the Arcs, that mission was accomplished.
Â
Brush now turns its attention to the final stretch of the regular season, traveling to face the Mogadore Wildcats on Friday, October 23, looking to build on a 6-3 record and carry its momentum into the road matchup.
Â
On a cold, wet, and windswept night at Korb Field, one kick was enough—and the Brush Arcs made it count.
