Arcs Triumph in OT, 40-34 Over Willoughby South

In a thrilling start to their home season, the Arcs of Brush secured a victory over the Willoughby South Rebels with a dramatic 40-34 overtime win on Friday. The game, marked by high tension and outstanding performances, culminated in a heart-stopping overtime period that saw the Arcs (2-1) emerge victorious.

The match was evenly poised from the start, with both teams showcasing strong offensive plays. The first half was a show of strength between the two sides' running backs. Aiden O'Neal was a standout performer for the Arcs, contributing significantly with three touchdowns including a spectacular 88-yard run and an 84-yard reception. His counterpart, Jayden Hardy of the Rebels, matched this by rushing for three touchdowns, keeping the halftime score deadlocked at 21 each.

As the second half unfolded, the scoring continued at pace, with Trumar Salette of Brush making a pivotal play by returning a punt for 82 yards to tip the scales in favor of the Arcs at 28-21. However, the Rebels were not to be outdone and continued to push back strongly. Khalil Dudley's 41-yard touchdown run was a highlight, putting Brush ahead once more. Yet, Hardy responded with another touchdown, his fourth, tying the game at 34-all. The Brush special teams unit made a crucial play by blocking a potential game-winning extra point which kept the scores tied with 5:20 to play.

South (1-2) had an opportunity to clinch the game with :06 seconds left in regulation, but the game-winning field goal attempt sailed wide left, pushing the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Arcs' defense stood strong forcing South into a fourth and long situation.  Munir Lewis chased down the Rebel quarterback from behind for the sack and forcing a fumble and Braylen Williams heroically scored the winning touchdown after picking it up and charging 72 yards to ensure victory for Brush.

O'Neal led the offensive attack for Brush with 140 yards rushing on just 12 carries and 2 receptions for 91 yards, including the 84-yard touchdown catch.  Dudley added 65 yards on the ground and Gilchrist finished the night 12-for-23 for 178 yards and a touchdown.

Salette led the Arcs with nine tackles and three pass breakups while Lewis added eight tackles, including three tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
