Reed Strikes Twice as Brush Girls Edge Lorain 2–1 at Korb

The Brush girls soccer team overcame an early miscue and leaned on their star scorer to earn a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Lorain on Monday night at Korb Field.

The visiting Titans struck quickly in just the third minute, when Arc goalkeeper Mackenzie Griffin made an initial stop but couldn't secure the ball. Lorain senior forward Mackenzie Paslawski pounced on the loose rebound and buried the chance from point-blank range, giving the Titans a 1–0 lead.

Brush responded midway through the first half, and of course it was Brianna Reed who delivered. The sophomore standout found space just inside the box and drilled the tying goal from 15 feet out in the 18th minute. The teams went into halftime deadlocked at 1–1.

The second half belonged to the Arcs' defense. Griffin shook off the early mishap and, along with her back line, limited Lorain to just a handful of looks at goal. That effort gave Brush the platform for Reed to strike again. In the 18th minute of the final stanza, she buried a penalty kick to give the Arcs their first lead of the night. Emmie Farren picked up the assist after drawing the foul that set up the winner.

The 2–1 score held as Brush's defense clamped down late, sealing the team's fourth win in their last five matches. Reed's double gives her 13 goals and 2 assists on the season, good for 28 points, keeping her among Northeast Ohio's top scorers.

With the win, Brush improves to 5–3 overall. The Arcs will look to keep their momentum rolling when they host the Massillon Washington Tigers in an 11:00 a.m. matinee Saturday at Korb Field.
