Brush fell to Chagrin Falls Varsity Tigers 19-18 on Saturday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at 18 in the bottom of the seventh when Mia Beavers singled, scoring one run.
The Lady Arcs got on the board in the top of the first inning after the Tigers committed an error, and
Jeida Gardner tripled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Chagrin Falls jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Brigitte Edwards singled, scoring one run, Beavers grounded out, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Brush made the score 5-4 in the top of the second after
Zayshelle Frierson drew a walk, scoring one run, and
Yanni Ramsey doubled, scoring one run.
Brush extended its early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by
Layla King and
Mackenzie Griffin.
Chagrin Falls tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a walk by Haper Stewart, a walk by Megan Shisila, and a dropped third strike.
The Lady Arcs responded in the top of the fourth when
Haleigh Ellis grounded out, scoring one run, King grounded out, scoring one run, and
Raia Ross doubled, scoring two runs.
Chagrin Falls flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 14-12. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Macari Frangipane that drove in two.
In the top of the fifth inning, Brush went back into the lead after
Lauryn Hines grounded out, Ellis singled to center field, and King singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
The Tigers scored on a passed ball, which helped tie the game at 15 in the bottom of the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, the Lady Arcs broke up the tie when Ross scored after tagging up. Then a dropped third strike followed to extend the lead to 17-15.
Chagrin Falls tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a double by Chloe Nightwine, and a single by Stewart.
Brush regained the lead in the top of the seventh. Ross doubled, scoring one run, to give the Lady Arcs the advantage, 18-17.
Chagrin Falls took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Lauren Eickhoff walked, and Beavers singled to left field, each scoring one run.
Brush collected 14 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Ross led the Lady Arcs with four hits in four at bats. Gardner and Ramsey each collected multiple hits for Brush ARCS.
