Head coach Demarris Winters reached a milestone moment in spectacular fashion—collecting the 200th win of his high school coaching career nearly 350 miles from Welser Gym. The Brush Lady Arcs made sure the celebration was a memorable one, overpowering the Whitney Young Dolphins, one of Chicago's perennial powers, in a commanding 71–52 victory at the Chicago Elite Classic on Sunday afternoon.
"Winning 200 games isn't about the number—it's about the young women who grew, believed, and built something together. It reflects years of hard work, heart, and the privilege of coaching incredible athletes," adds Winters. "It's really a celebration of commitment—mine, yes, but especially theirs. Thank you to the district, players, and parents. Lets go get more!"
Competing on a major stage at Malcolm X College, the Lady Arcs wasted no time proving they belonged. The Chicago Elite Classic—one of the nation's premier early-season showcases—features elite programs, future college stars, and national spotlight matchups. Brush embraced the moment and delivered a signature performance worthy of the event's billing.
As usual, the Mason sisters set the tone. Tatianna Mason was electric, matching her season average with 36 points, while
Nylah Mason turned in a brilliant effort of her own with a career-high 28. The dynamic duo was relentless, carving up the Dolphins' defense from start to finish.
Point guard
Addisyn Harris added seven points while expertly managing the offense, controlling tempo, and keeping Brush in rhythm throughout the afternoon.
With the victory, Brush improves to 4–1 and leaves Chicago with one of the program's most impressive early-season wins in recent memory. Whitney Young, a program with multiple Illinois state championships, provided a measuring stick—and the Lady Arcs measured up in every way.
Brush returns to another tournament showcase this weekend for another high-profile matchup, hosting Africentric Early College (Columbus) at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday as part of the Archbishop Hoban Hoopfest 2025. Africentric enters at 3–1, setting up yet another marquee test for a Brush team that is rapidly building momentum.
