Brush Dominates Kennedy Catholic 68-44 in the Chet Mason Invitational

In a commanding performance at the 7th Annual Chet Mason Invitational on Saturday, the Brush Lady Arcs continued their unstoppable run, extending their win streak to 13 with a dominant 68-44 victory over Kennedy Catholic. The win pushed Brush's record to 15-2, further cementing their status as one of Ohio's top teams.

From the opening tip, the Lady Arcs set the tone, racing out to a 10-0 lead before the Golden Eagles had a chance to catch their breath. Point guard Chaniyra McDowell-Isaacs was especially dangerous early, scoring eight of Brush's first 10 points on a mix of drives and outside shots. Game MVP Tatiana Mason provided steady support, adding six first-quarter points as the Lady Arcs took a commanding 16-7 lead after the opening frame.

It was more of the same throughout the rest of the game, as Brush's offense proved too much for Kennedy Catholic to handle. Mason and McDowell-Isaacs finished with 22 and 20 points, respectively, contributing evenly throughout the game and stifling any hopes of a Golden Eagles' comeback. Freshman Nyla Mason, younger sister of Tatiana, also made a significant impact, knocking down 3 three-pointers on her way to 16 points, keeping Kennedy Catholic's defense on edge and preventing them from collapsing into the paint.

The Lady Arcs' offensive efficiency was on full display. Brush connected on 19 two-point field goals and 7 three-pointers, while also converting 9 of 12 free throws. Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic struggled from the free-throw line, finishing just 11 of 24 (48%), leaving 13 points on the table in what would prove to be a critical miss for the Golden Eagles.

While Kennedy Catholic's players fought hard, Brush's depth and execution were overwhelming. Senior Layke Fields turned in a strong performance for the Golden Eagles, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to notch a double-double. Fields, who accounted for 36.4% of Kennedy Catholic's points, has now posted more than a third of the team's total points in six straight games. Point guard Bella Magestro added 15 points, including 4 three-pointers, while Tori Harvey chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Despite solid individual efforts, Kennedy Catholic struggled to keep pace with Brush's balanced attack, as the Lady Arcs outshot, outrebounded, and outpaced them for much of the contest.

With the win, Brush not only secured their 11th consecutive victory at home dating back to last season but also showed they're firing on all cylinders with an average of 62 points per game during this streak. The Lady Arcs will look to continue their momentum as they head into their next matchup against Laurel School on Monday at 6:00 p.m., where they will bring a commanding 167-place advantage in state rankings over the Gators (11th vs. 178th).

Kennedy Catholic, now 9-3, will look to regroup after seeing their five-game road win streak snapped, but they've shown they have the talent to bounce back in what has already been an impressive season.

For Brush, the road to a potential state title just got a little bit more real after another dominant victory in the Chet Mason Invitational.
