The BRUSH ARCS ladies basketball team took to the road last night (12/28), venturing to Akron to match winning records with Buchtel’s Fighting Griffins. With consistency and force, Brush added to their lead after each quarter – until by game’s finish – the Brush ladies walked away with a 16-point triumph, their 4th straight of the young season.
Buchtel, now 2-2, stayed close throughout the 1st half, trailing just 15-9 after 1 quarter and 33-22 after 2, but the Lady Arcs are talented AND deep this season, wearing down the Griffins and imposing their will. Brush (now 4-1) received huge games from Kayla White (17 pts, 6 assists, 4 steals), Asia Nicholson (19 pts, 16 rebounds), and Zennia Thomas (16 pts, 11 rebounds) in coasting through the 2nd half to win going away, 62-46.
Up next for the Arcs will be a tough home contest against Laurel School tomorrow evening (12/30). The Gators, who had not played in a month due to 6 cancellations and 2 postponements, defeated Canton GlenOak 49-43 in OT and Solon 72-63 in the past several days to raise their record to 4-1. Senior Taylor Thierry and sophomore Mari Bickley have been players to watch for Laurel, as of late. Gametime at “The Welz” is slated for 7:00pm….
