Boys Varsity Soccer · ARCS PLAY TOUGH EARLY, BUT FADE IN SOLON STRONG 2ND HALF, 4-0

The Solon Comets posted their 11th in a row last night (10/24) and earned a 4-0 win over the Brush Arcs. Senior Andrew Messmer (10) banged home two goals and Senior Ryan Funderburg (1) and Junior David Headen (1) tallied a goal each. Clean sheet for goalkeepers Senior Zach Baldwin and Junior Ethan Smith. Solon is now 12-2-1 and will face Uniontown Lake (6-6-1), a 3-1 winner over Mentor, at 6pm on Wednesday (10/28) at home.

The Comets struggled finding a way through the Arcs defense through the first half. Several missed opportunities and Arc Goalkeep Ken Seddon kept Solon at bay. In the second half, Senior Xander Morales seemed to be the spark the offense needed when he played a beautiful ball across that Messmer ran on and scored. After that, the Comets were more aggressive and scored two hustle goals with Headen and Messmer creating opportunities and scoring.

The Comets now are 6 wins away from a State Championship. For the Arcs, a season of excitement and accomplishment came to an end – but not before Brush recorded a 1st Round Playoff victory vs. Madison…….Brush will look to build on that going into the Fall of 2021.
